The use of personal health budgets in palliative and end of life care - summary of findings from the five test sites
NHS England has now concluded the testing of personal health budgets in palliative and end of life care.

All of the sites made significant progress in exploring opportunities to offer a personal health budget and you can read more about what they achieved on the learning network. You will also find useful resources, tools and links to the case study films in this report.

There will be two day planned personal health budgets in NHS continuing healthcare masterclasses in Manchester (September), Birmingham (October) and London (November). These include delivering personal health budgets in fast track continuing healthcare using the learning from Warrington and NEW Devon CCGs.

This project has now concluded and there are three reports available, you can find them under useful documents on the personal health budget learning network

  1. Personal health budgets six months in (October 16)
  2. Personal health budgets findings so far (October17)
  3. End of life personal health budgets evaluation report (June 18)
This report was compiled by the Operations and Information directorate following further discussions with the three sites that responded to the NHSE Evidence Unit’s request for data.

The webinar will cover:

  • Background information and purpose of the data collection
  • The template for the data collection and how it should be completed
  • Frequency for data submission and how it will be analysed
  • Potential benefits for your CCG in participating
Please contact for webinar registration details.

Regional Progress Reports for Quarter 4
The Q4 Regional Progress Reports are now available on the Learning Network.  CCGs reported delivering 28,040 PHBs across England during 2017/18.  The reports include analysis that shows CCGs are on track to meet the Mandate ambition for 2020/21. However, progress needs to be maintained with CCGs continuing to expand their PHBs offer beyond NHS Continuing Healthcare in order to stay on track.

Accolades awards open for great individual employers
If you know of individual employers who are doing a great job, nominate them for the Accolades 2019 or encourage them to enter themselves.

The ‘Best individual who employs their own care and support staff’ category recognises the achievements of individual employers who effectively recruit, manage and train their personal assistants (PAs) so that they can live the life that they want.

Entering these awards is a great way to recognise and celebrate the hard work they and their PAs do every day. And if they get through to the final stage, they’ll be invited to our celebration event with their PAs – which can really boost their morale and confidence.

Find out more and enter at Entries close on Friday 7 September 2018 at 5pm.
